Hysteroscopy with Dilation and Curettage (D&C)
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows your doctor to look inside your uterus using a thin camera called a hysteroscope—smaller than the diameter of a pencil. This helps us diagnose and treat various uterine conditions. Often combined with dilation and curettage (D&C), it allows for gentle scraping or removal of tissue. Polyps and small fibroids within the uterine cavity can be safely and completely removed with instruments that pass through the hysteroscopy. Hysteroscopy is also used to safely remove an IUD if the strings are not visible through the cervix.
Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP)
LEEP is an in-office treatment used to remove abnormal cervical tissue detected during Pap tests or biopsies. The procedure uses a thin wire loop heated by electric current to excise the affected area. It is quick, generally well tolerated, and helps prevent the progression of precancerous changes.
Saline Infusion Sonogram (SIS)
SIS is a specialized ultrasound procedure where sterile saline is gently infused into the uterus to improve visualization of the uterine lining and cavity. This helps detect abnormalities such as polyps, fibroids, or adhesions. It’s minimally invasive, usually well tolerated, and provides valuable information to guide treatment.
Colposcopy
A colposcopy is a close examination of the cervix, vagina, and vulva using a magnifying instrument called a colposcope. It’s typically performed after an abnormal Pap smear to better evaluate and biopsy any suspicious areas. The procedure is done in-office and is quick and safe.
Vulvar and Vaginal Biopsy
Biopsies of the vulva or vagina involve removing a small sample of tissue for laboratory analysis. This is done to diagnose or rule out conditions such as infections, precancerous changes, or other skin abnormalities. The procedure is typically quick, performed under local anesthesia, and usually causes minimal discomfort.
Vulvar Cryotherapy
Vulvar cryotherapy is a treatment that uses cold therapy to treat viral infections of the skin, such as genital warts. It is done in-office and targets affected areas to destroy abnormal tissue while sparing healthy skin. This procedure is safe, effective, and well tolerated.
Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure to reshape or reduce the labia minora or majora for functional or aesthetic reasons. This procedure is performed in-office or outpatient surgical settings and can improve comfort, hygiene, and self-confidence.
